SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN) – The Sidney – Shelby County YMCA was forced to close its doors after heavy rain fell Tuesday.

According to the CEO, Ed Thomas, a sensor that monitors the drain system was triggered and closed a valve when stormwater threatened to enter the building.

This valve keeps stormwater out but also prevents water draining from the building – meaning no bathrooms, showers or any other water can be used in the facility.

The YMCA was forced to close for the day.
