Trotwood girls earn Operation Basketball team of the week honors

TROTWOOD (WDTN) – The Trotwood-Madison girls basketball team, ranked 8th in the state are honored as the Operation Basketball, McAfee heating and air team of the week.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Saints quarterback Drew Brees apologized Thursday for his comments against kneeling during the national anthem after he received sharp criticism from fellow athletes, including some of his own teammates.

"I would like to apologize to my friends, teammates, the City of New Orleans, the black community, NFL community and anyone I hurt with my comments yesterday. In speaking with some of you, it breaks my heart to know the pain I have caused," he said in an Instagram post. "In an attempt to talk about respect, unity, and solidarity centered around the American flag and the national anthem, I made comments that were insensitive and completely missed the mark on the issues we are facing right now as a country."

Wright State discontinuing three sports

DAYTON, OH - Wright State University announced Wednesday it is reducing the number of its intercollegiate athletic programs by three, effective immediately.

The action is being taken as part of the university's overall budget restructuring efforts. Wright State is implementing a multiyear plan that will stabilize operations in the midst of lower projected enrollments and declining state support. The current COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the need for all areas of the university to reduce expenditures. Today’s announcement is part of a plan for a $2 million reduction in the operating budget of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Racing returns at Eldora w/o fans

ROSSBURG (WDTN) - Eldora Speedway's 67th season will open with three nights of racing beginning Thursday. The Dirt Late Model Stream Invitational will run without spectators but live streaming of the events will be available at FloRacing.com.
