CANTON, Ohio (WDTN) – After taking an early 7-0 lead, Springfield fell to St. Edward 28-14 in the Div. 1 state championship game for the second-straight year in Canton as the Wildcats finish as state runner-up.

The rematch of last year’s title game belonged to the Eagles in the Wildcat’s back-to-back state finals appearance.

Springfield QB Bryce Schondelmeyer accounted for 215 total yards of offense and one touchdown pass.

Running back Jayvin Norman opened the scoring with a touchdown plus 18 rushing yards. Anthony Brown posted 83 receiving yards on the night for the Wildcats.

Springfield finishes the 2022 season 13-2 with a share of at least two straight GWOC titles.
