MINSTER, Ohio (WDTN) – Minster hosted the Covington Buccaneers Friday night up in Auglaize County.
The Wildcats took the lead 20-6 and were looking for more. Jacob Niemeyer goes deep with Trent Roetgerman behind the defense, almost losing grip but holds on for a 40-yard touchdown, 27-6 with Minster staying in control of the board.
The Buccs answer Cade Schmelzer’s pass to Andrew Cates with what looks like a touchdown, but officials mark it down at the 1-yard line.
Schmelzer takes the game into his own hands, quarterback keeper for the touchdown, but the 2-point try is no good. 27-12 Minster.
In the final minute of the first half, the Wildcats go for the drive with Niemeyer threading the needle to Jack Hietbrink down at the 2-yard line.
A couple of plays later with the clock running, the Wildcats try to punch it in on the ground but the play is blown up by Brayden Wiggins.
It’s a nice play by the Buccs’ defense but Minster wins the game 39 to 26.
