HUBER HEIGHTS, Ohio (WDTN) – Our Premier Health Game of the Week began with two teams who needed a win in order to have a chance at securing a postseason spot.
It was Senior Night as Trotwood came into hostile territory, where Wayne was in need of a win.
The rain was coming down and so were the picks! Rashad McKee throws right into the hands of Sammy Anderson, no score just yet.
But that stop does set up the Rams. Keon Hamilton takes the handoff and he’s hit super hard, but this is a great lesson folks, if you’re not down, keep going. Hamilton tanks his way in for six. Trotwood leads 7-0 with 7:33 left in the 1st quarter.
It was a rivarly game for a reason. The warriors won’t forget that last play because they’ve got one of their own, Justin Harris adding that play to his hudle account and Mckee redeems himself, tying it up 7-7 in the 1st quarter.
After a Trotwood punt, Wayne was looking to get things going on the ground now. Devin Nelson gives the warriors a 14-7 lead with 3:53 left in the first quarter.
Dae’vontay Latimer was on another level and the rest is history. Latimer looks in the rear view mirror, and he’s home free. The Big Play of the night ties this one up at 14 even.
Don’t sleep on Wayne, though. Nelson racks up a lot of points for the Warriors and he shows us why as his blockers pave the way and Wayne takes a 21-14 lead with 7 minutes left in the 2nd qtr.
In overtime, Wayne defeats Trotwood-Madison 41-35
