Why should you be elected?
I earned people’s support because I believe it’s time for our elected officials to be accountable to the people. For too long, voters have recycled the same politicians. These politicians continue to ask for more chances, but deliver little in return. I am the son of Republican parents, so I understand that we don’t always need to agree on the issues to forge a relationship. In fact, I believe that some of the best ideas are formed when people with different viewpoints come together to make a decision. As an active member of the Dayton community who has served as Senator Sherrod Brown’s Regional Representative for southwest Ohio, I’m the person to go to Columbus and continue fighting for all people of Ohio’s 5th Senate district.
Top Three Priorities:
My top three priorities for Ohio are supporting job improvement and growth, improving our children’s education, and ending the opioid crisis. We must be innovative and create good-paying jobs in our communities that will strengthen the middle class. Too many Ohioans are working multiple jobs just to get by. We must make sure anyone who wants to work can find a job they can support a family on. We can help solve this problem by getting back to prioritizing our children’s future. Today, it is absolutely necessary to educate our children, starting with pre-k and going beyond high school. Too many Ohioans lack the skills to fill today’s jobs. We must make sure our children are properly equipped to meet tomorrow’s challenges. The opioid crisis has been a gut-wrenching crisis for Ohio’s communities, and our state has been slow to respond to the crisis with the resources necessary to put an end to the crisis. We must properly fund treatment and prevention. All of these things are interconnected and must be addressed to make our community stronger, healthier and safer.
After graduating from the University of Dayton, Paul made Dayton his home with his wife Caitlin. He served as Senator Sherrod Brown’s Regional Representative for southwest Ohio for six years, where he worked to form partnerships with constituents in Miami Valley, help offer creative solutions to problems, and improve local neighborhoods. He is currently the Director of Government Relations and Advancement at Antioch University and serves as a board member for the Miami Valley Fair Housing Center, the Dayton Human Relations Council, and the City of Dayton Plan Board.
