SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — The woman killed in a crash in Springfield on Wednesday night has been identified.

Springfield Police say the woman killed was 41-year-old Elizabeth Brightman from Columbus.

The crash happened around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday night on U.S. 40 near Titus Road.

Police say Brightman parked her car on the side of the road and they believe the flashers on her car were turned on. As she was getting out of her car, another car swerved and hit her.

Investigators aren’t sure why Brightman was parked on that stretch of U.S. 40.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the car that hit Brightman stopped and cooperated with authorities. The 23-year-old woman consented to a drug test and alcohol test. Police say they do not believe these were a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
