SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – A woman was sent to the hospital after being attacked by dogs overnight in Springfield.
The attack happened early Tuesday in the 1400 block of S. Fountain Boulevard.
The victim has been identified as 40-year-old Keisha Baker. She suffered injuries to her left calf, left arm, hands and feet.
Neighbors heard her screaming and came to her aid. One neighbor used a broom to fend off the dogs but Baker already had several bite wounds. She was taken to Springfield Regional Medical Center.
According to the owner of the dogs Krystal Williams, Baker is a stranger who was walking through the neighborhood and tried getting into her home using the back entrance.
She told 2 NEWS her dogs are licensed with the city and were in the backyard when Baker approached them. She said it was the dog’s instincts to protect their home and the puppies.
Clark County Animal Control removed all the animals from the home while Williams was away.
According to officials, it’s standard procedure to keep animals quarantined for ten days if they bite someone.
