COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) – Republican Troy Balderson declared himself the winner of Tuesday night’s special election for the 12th District Congressional seat, but it was very close and still not official.
Dr. Mark Caleb Smith, Director of the Centers for Political Studies at Cedarville University, joined 2 NEWS to discuss what this election means for the upcoming November midterm election.
“There’s a long way to go between now and November,” he said, adding that we should be wary of jumping to conclusions. The Democrats are performing well-above what was expected of them based on previous elections.
“It seems to me we could be looking at a very enthusiastic Democratic election which should be good for them come November if this continues to hold,” he said.
