SAN JOSE, CA (WAVY) – Gabby Douglas, the reigning all-around gold medalist in the 2012 Olympic Games in London, is now headed to the Rio games. One of five gymnasts and three alternates, the Virginia Beach native finished seventh overall at this week’s Olympic Trials, and will likely compete in the uneven bars, where she finished third.

Unlike during the 2012 games, Douglas won’t be the headliner. Some have already dubbed this group the second “Fierce Five,” which will be led by 19-year old Simone Biles. Many have suggested the 19-year old Biles could be the greatest female gymnast ever.

The team of five includes Douglas, Biles, 16-year old Laurie Hernandez, 19-year old Madison Kocian, and 22-yera old Aly Raisman.
