VIDEO: Longhorns mascot Bevo goes after Georgia’s Uga

NEW ORLEANS (KXAN) — It was a close call for those standing near the Longhorns mascot enclosure on the Superdome field in New Orleans Tuesday.

Ahead of the matchup between No. 15 Texas and No. 5 Georgia, Bevo suddenly charged at the barriers and pushed some out of the way, sending members of the media, spectators, and Uga the Bulldog and his handlers running away from Bevo’s horns. It appeared to have been during a mascot meetup.

One of Bevo’s handlers grabbed his horn to stop him from getting deeper into the crowd and turned him back toward his enclosure. People narrowly avoided being hurt. The Longhorn Network also tweeted “Uga X is fine.”

Just a day before, Bevo’s Twitter had shared a photo of the Longhorn and Bulldog with the caption “Pals.” On game day, it appears that was not the case.
