(NBC) – There’s new evidence a staggering number of Americans are probably paying too much for their prescription drugs.
Sara Skirboll of Retailmenot.Com says, “67% of the population doesn’t know or understand that there are tools out there where they can save money on their prescription drugs.”
Retailmenot.dot-com conducted a survey with over a thousand American adults, and it suggests over half the country is on a prescription medication and probably paying too much.
“A lot of people in the country will actually halve their prescriptions, they won’t take their prescriptions,” says Skirboll, adding, “They’ll take them some days but not the other days, all because of money which is just so unfortunate.”
That’s why online discounters like good RX are gaining popularity, and why Retailmenot is now offering RX Saver.
Skirboll says, “All you need to do is enter your zip code, enter your prescription name and the website RXsaver.com is going to pull up all the different pharmacies and stores in your area that sell that prescription medication and show you the exact price.”
She says the discounts are sometimes so deep you can actually save more than when your insurance pays for a prescription.
