(NBC News) Lawmakers in Washington are back on the countdown clock.
With almost two weeks until another potential government shutdown, they are once again scrambling to reach a deal on border security.
President Trump and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are both digging in on their positions.
“There’s not going to be any wall money in the legislation,” Pelosi said Thursday.
The president fired back, saying, “If they don’t have a wall – I don’t even want to waste my time reading what they have.”
Democrats say they’ll approve of money for border security and enhanced technology, including at ports of entry.
The president, meanwhile, says he doesn’t need Congress at all and repeated his threat to declare a national emergency and use military funds to build a wall.
