(NBC) – Ever since Americans figured out how book their own travel online, walk-in travel agencies were thought to be in jeopardy, but a Triple-A survey has found the pendulum swinging back.
Jeanne Casselano of AAA says, “Not only are Americans telling us they are using travel agents, we are seeing it.”
It indicates the vast majority of Americans, 75%, are willing to let a travel agent book a vacation.
Roni Fishkin of Mann Travel in Charlotte, NC says, “A travel agent is going to offer you so much more than the internet can offer.”
And much of that new business is being offered to millennials.
“There is information overload and millennials are using travel agents to help them go through that information,” says Casselano.
Triple-A’s survey of over a thousand American travelers also found the more expensive and extensive a trip is, the more likely consumers will call a travel agent.
John Connors from AAA Travel says, “The travel agent is going to be there before, during and after that trip to make sure that it is right.”
“We know that people spend their hard earned dollars for travel,” says Fishkin. “It does not come cheap and we want to make sure they get the best bang for their buck.”
Which is what most travelers want, too.
