Tire thieves leave Chevy dealer flat

U.S. & World

(WDSU/NBC News) Louisiana police are searching for two suspects wanted in connection with the theft of dozens of tires from a Slidell Chevrolet dealership.

Matt Bowers, owner of Matt Bowers Chevrolet, says the suspects came into the dealership at 3 a.m. Saturday with a U-haul truck, cut the lock with bolt cutters and within 45 minutes stole 134 wheels and tires off 31 cars.

The amount stolen totaled $120,000.

According to Slidell Police Chief Randy Fandal, the suspects appear to be no amateurs.

Fandal said the suspects defeated locks, alarms, surveillance video, and manipulated exterior lights in the parking lot so they could work in darkness.
