(WRCB) A Tennessee school bus driver was charged with driving under the influence Wednesday after being reported by a student and pulled over while driving his route.
The driver has been identified as Mike Ledbetter, who school district officials say was fired immediately.
The bus, #41, was said to be swerving and driving erratically while running its route. Students aboard the bus texted or called their parents to report the driver.
A 911 caller informed the Rhea County Sheriff’s Office of the situation. They, in turn, called the school. The school radioed for the driver to pull over immediately, which Ledbetter did.
The bus was en route from Rhea Central Elementary to Rhea County High School at the time.
