VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Officials say a shooter has been contained after one person was injured in an active shooter incident Friday morning at Naval Air Station Oceana.

Beth Baker with Navy Region Mid-Atlantic said a female sailor was shot during an isolated domestic incident at the base. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Baker said the shooter, a male, is also military personnel and is no longer a threat. The base was placed on lockdown during the incident, but it has since been lifted.

A Navy Region Mid-Atlantic spokesperson later confirmed the shooter was killed by security officers.
