Nearly 200 firefighters battle massive apartment fire in Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA, Ohio (WDTN) — Nearly 200 firefighters battled a massive apartment fire in Philadelphia early Monday.

The fire started around 2:15 a.m. Monday at a four-story apartment building in West Philadelphia’s Overbrook neighborhood.

Everyone inside the building was able to escape unharmed. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries.

More than 180 firefighters battled the five-alarm fire. A portion of the building collapsed due to damage caused by the fire.

A local school was serving as a Red Cross center to help people and animals displaced by the fire.

The cause is under investigation.
