Horses rescued from icy Pennsylvania pond

U.S. & World

(WBRE) Two horses are recovering after a dramatic rescue from an icy pond in Hamilton Township, Pennsylvania.

The Clydesdale horses, each weighing more than 1,500 pounds, fell through the pond after they broke out of their enclosure Saturday morning. The horses fell into ten feet of water and were about a football field’s length away from the shore.

Emergency responders used a boat to cut a rescue path through the ice. They then secured ropes and bands around the horses to begin pulling them to shore.
