U.S. & World

(WCNC) Former Carolina Panther Rae Carruth completed his paperwork for his release from prison and walked out a free man at 8:02 a.m. Monday, after serving nearly 19 years in prison.

Carruth, was convicted of conspiring to kill his pregnant girlfriend Cherica Adams in January, 2001.

The former Panthers wide receiver never took the stand but his defense always maintained he didn’t witness the moment trigger-man Brett van Watkins killed Adams.
