CENTERVILLE, Ohio (WDTN) – The Centerville High School Jazz Band has been selected to perform in the 2020 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, their first time since 1982.
“Over the years, Centerville High School has carved out its own, unique voice in the marching arts, performing exciting jazz arrangements to the delight of crowds across the nation,” said Wesley Whatley, creative producer, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. “The Macy’s Band Selection Committee is always on the look-out for programs who set themselves apart and excel. We are thrilled and proud to welcome back The Centerville Jazz Band to the 2020 Macy’s Parade!”
Centerville was chosen from over 100 applicants as one of nine selected bands to march in the 94th edition of the annual parade.
“The Centerville Jazz Band is proud to once again return to the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade after 38 years!,” said Brandon Barrometti, director of bands at Centerville. “The band last participated in 1982, and will make a celebrated performance in November 2020.”
Centerville will spend the next 18 months planning for their Parade appearance.
School officials say that rehearsals and creative fundraising events will not only bring the school and the community closer but also prepare the students for the march of a lifetime.
