Alabama boy donates allowance to homeless

U.S. & World

PRICHARD, Ala. (NBC) – A four-year-old from Prichard, Alabama chose to spend every dollar he earns to feed the homeless.

“I want to be a President of the United States of America.”

But in the meantime, four-year-old Austin Perine says he likes to do more in his free time to get him there, other than play and eat candy.

Austin said, “Because I wanted to show love for the homeless.”

Little Austin says his motto is “show love.” This now-viral video his dad made, showed him ‘Showing love’ by feeding the homeless.

“It makes me feel great,” Austin said.

Austin’s dad, Terance Perine said this idea sparked after watching animal planet on tv. Austin asked his dad why a mother panda left her cubs alone.

Terance Perine said, “And I said well I guess it’s going to be homeless for a while and he said are people homeless and I said yeah some of them and he asked me to take him to see a homeless person.”

They did just that. This father and son bought food for the homeless in Prichard.

That experience launched a passion project for this four-year-old who helps the hungry wherever he goes including Birmingham, Washington, D.C. and even in the middle of his interview.

“I got an idea we should go feed the homeless right now,” Austin said.

So that’s exactly what happened. Austin took the reporter with him as he went out the door, to show what it’s like when he’s out giving back.

Austin said, “I would say to feed everybody else that’s homeless.”

“I just want Austin’s experience to be contagious to everyone else even though people are different they still deserve to be loved,” said his father Terance.

A PayPal account has been set up for those who wish to help Austin in his mission to feed the homeless. If you’d like to donate you can do so by clicking here.
