31 sheep killed by lightning strike at Kentucky farm

U.S. & World

BOWLING GREEN, KY (WCMH) — A Kentucky farmer found nearly three dozen sheep dead over the weekend after lightning struck a nearby tree.

Crist Byler makes a living being a sheep farmer.

But his livelihood just got a bit harder after 31 of his sheep were killed by a lightning strike.

“The only thing you could do is clean the mess up. I mean, it’s gruesome,” Byler told WBKO

Byler is now trying to figure out what he’s going to do next.

“I guess I have to replace them, I want to replace them, one way or the other.”

A mark at the bottom of the tree where the lightning struck serves as a reminder to Byler of Mother Nature’s deadly force.

“You just have to continue on. Just part of farming.”
