UPDATE: JEFFERSON TWP, Ohio (WDTN)– Two men are in serious condition and one is considered critical after police say they shot each other during an argument over a parking spot at a local bar.
“When deputies arrived we realized there were actually two different shooting victims, right now it appears the two people shot each other,” said Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Matt Haines.
Police say an argument over a parking spot at Two Bob’s Inn Sunday afternoon around 4:40 p.m. turned dangerous when two men allegedly ended the discussion with shots being fired. Law enforcement has responded to calls at the bar in the past.
“No I couldn’t say this bar in particular is completely unknown to us, it is a bar so we’ve had issues over the years, but it’s been many many years since we’ve had a shooting or stabbing anything like that but it’s very unusual for this neighborhood in general,” said Major Haines.
Witnesses who spoke off-camera said they thought the men were joking when they allegedly threatened to shoot each other and said the scene erupted into chaos afterwards. Police were not able to confirm if alcohol was a contributing factor in the investigation.
“Yeah I imagine right now potentially there are charges against both of them,” said Major Haines. “At this point we have to decide who the primary aggressor is, who actually started this but we do expect charges against somebody here.”
As of now, the incident is under investigation.
