ROCHESTER, Minn. (KIMT) – Adult coloring books are among the most in demand books online and in stores. In fact, a store that started carrying them in Minnesota can barely keep them on the shelf.
A Child’s Kingdom in Rochester has been selling adult coloring books and supplies since the beginning of the year.
“It’s a phenomenon,” explains owner, Peg Arnold.
Arnold recognized the interest and held a first-of-its-kind event; an adult coloring event. Tuesday adults sat down with a glass of wine and color. More than 40 people showed up.
“It’s a great stress reliever,” says Arnold. “Oh my goodness, every night for about an hour, I’ll just sit and color and all the stress from the day just melts away.”
Arnold never expected so many people to show up and plans on holding another event in June.
As for the demand, she says they’re on backorder and expecting new shipments of adult coloring supplies next week.
