Six days, six police officers shot

(WXIA) The holiday season has been a like a bad dream on repeat for law enforcement in Georgia.

Six officers have been shot in less than a week, with two fatally wounded in the line of duty.

he gunfire that has led to two fallen officers, started on Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 9:40 a.m.

Americus Police officer Nick Smarr, 25, was responding to a domestic call at an apartment complex adjacent to the Griffin Bell Golf Course, located just south of the GSW State University main campus.

GSW officer Jody Smith, 26, heard the call over his radio and also responded as a backup to his fellow officer and his best friend.
