DAYTON (WDTN) – A driver fled a traffic stop and struck a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Deputy late on Wednesday night.
It began when a car fled from Sheriff’s Deputies near the intersection of Infirmary Road and West Third Street in Jefferson Township just after 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Deputies stopped a vehicle during a saturation patrol and asked the driver to get out for a K-9 free-air search.
The driver refused and fled, striking a deputy with his car. The deputy was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, where he was treated and released for minor injuries.
Two deputies chased the car, with the chase ending near the intersection of Paul Lawrence Dunbar and Conover Street when the vehicle crashed into a fence.
The suspect fled on foot and escaped. Deputies say the suspect is facing a felonious assault on a police officer charge.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Section is investigating the incident.
