Sentencing rescheduled for man who shot boy on Christmas Eve


DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The man guilty of shooting a then-two-year-old boy will face a new sentencing date.

Nickolai Gray was scheduled to be sentenced Thursday, but his attorney reportedly never showed up

He will be sentenced at 3:30 p.m. on June 30.

The two-year-old boy was shot while in the back seat of a car near Gettysburg Avenue and James H. McGee Boulevard.

The then-20-year-old Nikolai J. Gray, Jr. was arrested December 29 in connection with the shooting.

At the time of the shooting, police say someone, later learned to be Gray, fired at least one shot at the car. The vehicle then struck a tree near the Superior Dayton Drive-Thru.

A drive-thru employee told 2 NEWS at the time that a woman came into the store with a child who had a gunshot wound in the head. The store manager called 911.
