NBC NEWS – Former Massachusetts governor and 2012 GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney tweeted Wednesday that he wants to see the Libertarian ticket included in the presidential debates this fall.
Former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson is currently polling below 15 percent, the benchmark to appear on the debate stage. A lawsuit filed by Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein against the Commission on Presidential Debates was dismissed by a judge last month, leaving the third-party candidates scrambling to boost their support ahead of the first debate on Sept. 26.
Like Romney, Libertarian vice presidential candidate Bill Weld is also a former Massachusetts governor.
