CINCINNATI (WDTN) – Following an embarrassing loss to the New Orleans Saints, the Cincinnati Bengals have fired their defensive coordinator, according to multiple reports.
Teryl Austin has been relieved of his duties, ESPN reports.
Sources tell ESPN the move came hours after the Bengal’s defense allowed 51 points in Sunday’s loss.
Austin was named Cincinnati’s defensive coordinator in January of this year. He worked for the Detroit Lions for several seasons prior.
According to ESPN, the Bengals are the first team in the Super Bowl era to give up at least 500 yards in three straight games.
