Preventing spring allergies

News

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Spring is here, and for many of us, springtime allergies are kicking in. Nurse Practitioner Amanda Fox with Premier Physicians Network joined 2 NEWS Wednesday with tips to help you keep your allergies under control.

Common allergy symptoms include runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, itchy eyes and nose, and nasal congestion.

Fox encourages allergy-sufferers to try some natural remedies before running out to pick up over-the-counter medications. Pollen can often cover outdoor surfaces that we encounter all the time, so she suggests washing your hands after you come inside, or if you’ve been outside for a long period of time, take a shower.

Additionally, be aware of the daily pollen count in order to stay prepared and consider staying indoors during high counts. Keep windows closed to avoid pollen entering your home or car. Also consider vacuuming and dusting frequently.
