DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Police caught a suspect who crashed into two vehicles in a matter of minutes Friday evening.
Police say the incident happened on Needmore Road and Old Troy Pike near the Marathon gas station where the suspect crashed into a vehicle, drove away from the scene, and then crashed again into another vehicle.
Medics and police tried to intervene but the suspect managed to drive away from them before hitting the second vehicle.
Police believe opioids were a factor in the two crashes.
Lieutenant Christopher Malson of the Dayton Police Department talks about the dangers of driving under the influence of opioids.
“It is a dangerous part especially when their driving in vehicles because the overdose could happen at anytime either immediately or delayed response after they use whatever drug their using. So it’s extremely dangerous because the overdose renders them unconscious and the car is out of control,” Lt. Malson said.
Police say the crashes are still under investigation.
