TROTWOOD, Ohio (WDTN) – Police are responding to a report of a pitbull attacking a woman Tuesday afternoon.

The call came in around 1:15 p.m. in the 1400 block of Elaine Street in Trotwood.

The woman was reportedly trying to break up a fight between two dogs when they turned on her. Police say the woman was watching the dogs for a friend and that the dogs were fighting over food.

“One or both of the dogs attacked her, she received multiple bites to her hands, arms, legs and to her head, also,” said Trotwood Police Chief John Porter.

Four children were home at the time of the attack, Porter said. They were unharmed and uninjured. One of those children called police to report the incident.

The Animal Resource Center also responded to the scene and removed the two animals. The owner of the dog could possibly receive a citation for not registering one of the dogs.

The victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. She was reportedly alert and talking to police.

No other details are immediately available Tuesday afternoon.
