Police arrest man for murder in connection to Middletown mother’s death

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Dayton Police have taken 34-year-old Brandon Carr into custody on murder charges after he is arrested off of Third Street in Dayton Wednesday.

Only 2 NEWS was there when he was taken into custody at the Montgomery County Jail. Officials tell 2 NEWS that he is believed linked to the shooting death of Brittany Russell, a Middletown woman who had her six-month-old child in the back seat of her car when she died.

“Through interviews and tracking down evidence, we were able to locate a certain individual that was involved in the homicide of Brittany Russell. We were able to locate that individual today at 45 S. Holloway without any type of incident. We were able to contact him at the door and take him into custody… He was booked on the charge of murder,” said Sgt. Richard Blommel, Dayton homicide supervisor.

Russell was shot in the head in her car on Free Pike in Dayton earlier this month.

Dayton police said they had identified 37-year-old Curtis Burdette Jr. as a person of interest in the case Feb. 13, though he has not been formally charged in this case.
