DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Dayton Human Relations Council, the Victoria Theatre Association, and Dayton Public Schools are partnering for a ‘poetry slam’ Thursday.
It will showcase Dayton-area high school students sharing their thoughts on how gun violence affects communities.
“When we talk to young people, we find that they’re angry, they’re concerned, they’re frustrated, they’re scared, and we want to give them an outlet, something positive to be able to express those feelings,” said Erica Fields, with the Human Relations Council.
The winning performers will win scholarships to Sinclair Community College. The event will be held Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Victoria Theatre.
