SIDNEY, Ohio (WDTN) — The Ohio State Highway Patrol will hold a pair of OVI checkpoint in Shelby and Montgomery Counties Friday night.
One of the checkpoints will be held in Vandalia on US-40 from 9:00 pm until 11:00 pm. Saturation patrols will accompany the checkpoint to spot and deter impaired driving.
A second checkpoint will be on Wapakoneta Avenue from 8:00 pm until midnight. The effort is funded by federal grants.
OSP says the checkpoint is designed to deter and intercept impaired drivers. The Sidney Police Department is working with OSP to operate the checkpoint.
There will also be nearby saturation patrols. OSP says it’s important to aggressively combat alcohol related injury and fatal crashes.
