One dead following Warren County Crash


MONROE, Ohio (WDTN) – A man is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Monroe.

It happened just before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 75 just north of State route 63 in Warren County, according to a statement from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lebanon Post.

Ken Smith, 30, of Cincinnati, was traveling northbound when his vehicle, a 2003 GMC van, struck the rear of a semi-trailer – also traveling northbound.

Smith was transported to the Atrium Medical Center where he died from his injuries, according to the statement.

Smith’s passenger, Shawntay Smith, 34, of Cincinnati was also transported to Atrium Medical Center where she is expected to survive. Her condition is unknown as of Tuesday afternoon.

The driver of the semi-trailer was uninjured. The crash remains under investigation.
