WATCH: 14-year-old driving stolen car nearly hits Columbus police officer

Ohio

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Police in Columbus say a 14-year-old driving a stolen car nearly ran over an officer earlier in November.

According to police, it happened around 3:42 p.m. on November 16. Officers were trying to stop the driver of a stolen car south of German Village.

Pilot Officer Roger Howard and observer Glenn Keeton were able to track the suspect driving through streets as patrol officers on the ground.

As the suspect saw officers closing in, he put his car in reverse, trying to escape. Officer David Schultz was in the street trying to get him to stop. Schultz had to jump into his cruiser to avoid getting struck.

The suspect was arrested a short time later. He reportedly told officers that he had just gotten out of juvenile correction earlier that day.
