Suspect in Rhoden family murders released from prison

PIKE COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – One of the grandmothers arrested in the case of the Rhoden family massacre was released from jail Tuesday.

Court records indicate that Rita Newcomb, suspected of helping her family cover up the murders, posted bond in the amount of $50,000.

She has pleaded ‘not guilty’ to felony charges of obstructing justice and perjury.

Newcomb is the mother of Angela Wagner, who was arrested last week along with her husband, George, and two sons, in connection with the slayings of eight members of the Rhoden family two years ago.
