NORTH COLLEGE, Ohio (WDTN) – A video gone viral at a North College high school depicting students who were secretly recorded during sex has led investigators to believe that there are at least 21 other victims involved in the crime.
Our sister station WLWT reports that the case was opened in October after just one video was reported as being shared on social media.
Police say the 18-year-old suspect secretly recorded a sexual encounter between him and a 14-year-old girl and shared it on Snapchat.
Another parent who saw the video sent it to the victim’s mother, who reported the incident to police.
The initial video was sent to about ten people, who then shared it.
Detectives believe the clip was also airdropped, meaning it was automatically shared with iPhones in the nearby area, which include middle school students.
Police found the original video of the girl on the suspect’s phone in addition to uncovering photos or videos of 21 other potential victims.
Those victims are now asked to come forward, partially because there could be health concern for the girls involved.
