COLUMBUS, Ohio (WDTN) – J. Todd Smith was sworn in on Tuesday as State Representative of the 43rd Ohio House District, filling the vacant seat.
Smith was born in southern Ohio and graduated from Cincinnati Christian University. He received his Master’s degree in the New Testament earlier this year.
Formerly, he spent 21 years as a pastor at The Church at Farmersville and his pastorate expanded recently to its sister church in West Chester.
Smith serves on the Valley View School District Security Committee, which focuses on the prevention of school violence. He also tutors, chaperones school events, and is a substitute teacher.
He lives with his wife of 24 years, Jennifer, and their four children in Germantown.
“It is a great privilege to become a member of this honorable House,” he said. “I am honored, excited, and eager to get to work for the great people of the 43rd House District and look forward to representing their needs and desires to the leadership in Columbus.
A portion of Montgomery County is included in the 43rd District.
