BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WDTN) – Two students in Butler County have been charged for posting threatening pictures and videos on their social media pages.

One is a student at Lakota East High School while the other is a freshman at Edgewood. Both are facing misdemeanor charges of inducing panic.

“I cannot stress enough how serious we take threats against schools or students, implied or direct. I encourage parents to talk to your kids about using good judgement on social media sites. One juvenile posted a video of a gun and the other student’s post stated he had ‘murder on his mind.’ We will file criminal charges every time something like this happens,” said Sheriff Jones.

The incidents are not considered to be connected to each other.

Both students were charged in the Butler County Juvenile Court.
