Ohio University professor charged with assault, placed on leave

ATHENS, Ohio (WCMH) – A 15-year employee of Ohio University has been charged with assault and aggravated burglary, according to Lancaster police.

Keith D. Markman allegedly forced his way into a Lancaster residence on April 4 and struck his former girlfriend in the face, officials say.

Bond was set at $30,000 and Markman is currently out on bail.

Ohio University released the following statement:

“Professor Markman has been placed on administrative leave. He has been an employee of Ohio University for 15 years. The University does not comment on pending personnel matters.”
