Ohio GOP: Fake Twitter mocking Trump official was mistake

News

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — The Ohio Republican Party’s chairman says its executive director made a “bad decision” in creating a fake Twitter account with a crude username to mock the director of GOP nominee Donald Trump’s campaign in the battleground state.

Katie Eagan made the account Sunday, a day after Trump’s presidential campaign denounced and cut ties with state GOP Chairman Matt Borges. He’d been openly critical of Trump.

The parody account featured a photo of Trump Ohio chairman Bob Paduchik with the name “Baby Bob” and tweets making fun of him. It was deleted Monday.

Borges has defended Eagan, saying she made a mistake “in the heat of the moment” and it was dealt with quickly.

A spokesman for Trump’s Ohio campaign says it won’t be distracted by “the politics of personal destruction.”
