SPRINGBORO, Ohio (WDTN) – The Springboro School District is gearing up for its first day of classes after summer break on Thursday.
The school district is under new leadership, Dan Shroer became the superintendent August 1st. He tells 2 NEWS reporter Maytal Levi he’s excited to welcome 6,000 students back to school.
Schroer has been in education for 24 years, seven of those as a superintendent.
His three top priorities are enhancing academic performance, engaging students to be more involved in extracurricular activities and being there for students and staff.
He says he wants high school to be a time for students to create friendships, develop leadership skills and be a positive part of the community.
“I never want to see a student who just comes to school at 7:30 a.m. and leaves at 2:30 p.m. and doesn’t have another opportunity. I want to see them involved in a sport, an activity, community service event so they have a home,” he said.
Shroer also plans to be more involved with students. He says he’ll be visiting all six schools in the district regularly throughout the school year.
