Mother charged after 10-month-old boy dropped off at woman’s house

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – A 10-month-old boy was dropped off at a woman’s house early Thursday morning and now that child’s mother is being charged with child endangering, according to Springfield police.

Heather Shaw, 31, was booked into the Clark County Jail Thursday evening. She is due in court on Friday.

Springfield Police say the boy was dropped off around 1 a.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Sherman Avenue in Springfield.

The woman who lives at the house says an acquaintance of hers knocked on her door with a unknown black male, a white female and a small child in a car seat. The woman says it was raining very hard Wednesday night and she let them inside her house.

The child was reportedly very wet and had a full diaper, according to a Springfield police report. The woman went upstairs to get a change of clothes for the baby and came back downstairs to see the woman performing a sex act on the man. She told them both to leave her house and that she would take care of the child until the morning.

The woman who lived at the house said she was afraid for the child’s safety because both the man and other woman were either intoxicated or drugged. She had not heard from either the man or woman by 12:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon and called police.
