Most complete mastodon skeleton found

ANN ARBOR, MI (WDTN) — Researches from the University of Michigan have found one of the most complete skeletons ever of a mastodon.

This is the first ice age mastodon skeleton found in Michigan since the 1940s.

The researchers say that about 70-percent of the skeleton remains intact.

The head of the mastodon, an extinct cousin of the elephant, is now being examined to estimate its age.

Mastodons roamed North and Central America in grazing herds and died out about 10-to-11,000 years ago.
