Local students get flooded in donations of water

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – A local student council started out collecting water for people in Flint, MI for the last two weeks of school but what they got was a flood of responses.

Students at Cline Elementary School in Washington Township wanted to collect 6500 bottles of water to send to Flint, MI in an effort to help those dealing with a water crisis.

Not only did they exceed their goal, students tell 2 NEWS they collected around 20,000 bottles of water.

Trucks were brought in Wednesday to load the donated deluge and take it to Michigan.

One student at the school talked about how the student body answered the call for help. Fifth Grader Gabe Cupps said, “Once they knew how bad this crisis was they started to realize the people really needed help.”
