Local News

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – WWII veteran Edgar Moorman turned 100 over the weekend and a party was held in his honor at the Dayton VA.

He also received recognition from Congressman Mike Turner, Senator Sherrod Brown, Governor Mike DeWine, and even President Trump.

“I think it’s absolutely phenomenal. I love being able to come and celebrate these momentous occasions with our veterans. Our WWII vets are a very special population, and you can just see the support they have and it’s amazing that he would reach his 100th birthday and even more amazing to have 99 descendants,” says Jill Dietrich, Medical Center Director for the Dayton VA.

If Mr. Moorman looks familiar, he was featured in on of 2 NEWS’ I Love Dayton segments as a University of Dayton superfan. He started going to games before he was drafted in 1941.
