DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — Wright State University will begin sending out layoff notices this week to a handful of employees.
Jim Hannah, Assistant Director of Public Relations, Communications and Marketing at Wright State University confirmed Tuesday that 26 employees will be told that their positions are being eliminated.
He was not able to confirm the reason behind the layoffs, which positions are being eliminated, or if there will be more layoffs in the near future.
WSU passed its 2019 budget in March that called for cuts in some areas. The possibility of job cuts was announced at the same meeting the budget was passed.
WSU President Cheryl Schrader said at the time they try to keep layoffs at a minimum but were expecting no more than 40 positions cut.
Wright State University employs about 3,300 people, about 2,000 of them full-time.
